Prologue (KHS's voice):
YJ, I've finally reached my uncle's house. It's a beautiful little white house on a stretch of green patch of grass. My room looks like a princess' room, everything in pink, really suits me. I start to miss you a lot. Everytime I miss you, I will knit something, this time, it's a sweater...

Young SeoJunYoung was cycling through a road and stopped by a passing music parade. A group of boys started calling SJY names, and insulting his mother. They got into a fight in a playground where JY was beaten up quite badly. The boys left after beating JY up. JY sat up, wiped the blood from his lips and saw a girl staring at him. Feeling angry he snapped at the girl, and when the girl did not respond, JY threw his shoe at her, hitting her right on her face. Startled, the girl fell to the ground. From a distance, a woman shouted at JY and chased him off. The woman then helped the little girl up, brushed the dust off her dress and walked off.

JY picked up his shoe, and saw a name tag lying on the ground, next to his shoe. He picked it up and read out the name on the tag - Park Hye In . JY cycled back to his house, passing by a group of American soldiers and escort ladies engaged in negotiating 'business'. He stopped at a junction in front of a pub where an American soldier was bickering with a bunch of escorts, refusing to pay for his drink, claiming that the drink was mixed with water. The pub owner came out and settled the matter.

JY quietly continued his journey. Entering a small room, he took his bowl and was about to sit for lunch, when the lady of the pub owner (JY' mother) came in and sat down opposite JY. She reprimanded JY for getting into fight. JY retaliated by telling her the reason why he got into the fight. Angry, JY then ran out of the house and went to his own hide out, an abandoned hut.

In the meanwhile, the lady with the girl (whom JY met at the playground) went to the pub, looking for a job. As the JY's mom came out, the lady introduced herself as MiJuh and asked JY's mom for a job at the pub. Mijuh then explained that the young girl with her is her niece.

Back in the hut, JY started to pick up a guitar beside him, and had a flashback of his moments with his dad. As night time approached, JY went back into the room, huddled and slept. His mother came in, took a blanket and covered JY, he stirred gently, but slept on. She gazed at him sadly.

In the morning, JY went to school. As he sat in the classroom, a teacher came into the classroom with a new girl, Park Hye In - the same girl whom JY saw at the playground. JY looked a bit guilty, took out the name tag necklace he picked up at the park while looking at Hye In. As the classes ended, JY's teacher approached him and asked JY to give Hye In a ride home as both stayed together. JY couldn't refuse, so he gave Hye In a ride. Halfway through the journey, JY told Hye In to get down from the bike and go home on her own. He then left her to go to his own retreat hut.

After spending some time at the hut, JY started to paddle home. He then saw Hye In at the junction of train track, and almost got run down by a passing train. The next day, JY offered to give Hye In a ride, but she gently rejected his offer and went home on her own. One morning, JY's teacher saw Hye In and JY and he asked whether they came to school together. JY unable to answer, and Hye In lied to the teacher by saying yes. JY looked guilty.

JY and Hye In's friendship started as one day JY gave Hye In a ride when it was raining heavily. Both stopped under a tree, and they listened to music as they were waiting for the rain to stop. Since then, both were inseparable. As the same group of rascal boys (who got into a fight with JY) started to make fun of Hye In, JY leapt to her defense, much to the jealousy of another classmate of them - Chae Hwa Jeon. Hwa Jeon liked JY a lot and felt very jealous at the attention that JY showered for Hye In. Highly frustrated, HJ even tried to 'blind' her own eyes in an attempt to get JY's attention.

One day, a loanshark came looking for Mijuh (HJ's aunt). They started to wreak havoc when they failed to find Mijuh (who quickly ran away to hide herself). When Mijuh still hid herself after the loanshark's many visits, they wanted to take Hye In away. JY's mother told them that she did not care about Hye In. Both JY and Hye In happened to be standing nearby the entrance door - hidden from the sight, overheard the conversation. JY quickly brought Hye In to hide in his hut.

As night sets in, JY's mom was worrying over JY. In the meawhile, back at the hut Hye In was having a fever. A panicked JY carried her on his back all the way. As they reached in front of the pub, JY - teary eyes, begged his mother not to send Hye In away. Just as JY's mother started to relent, JY fainted.

Time passed by, both JY and HI grew closer. They spend their time together all the time in the abandoned hut. One fine day, JY was playing a guitar, and he promised her to give her the song once he finished composing it. Hye In said that she had nothing to give back. JY brushed it off, but Hye decided to give her name tag necklace to him as a gift instead.

JY: but it's yours...
Hye: From now on, whatever's mine is yours, because we will be together forever.

Hye reached up to touch JY's face. Startled, JY started to withdraw. Hye then requested JY's permission to touch his face as she had no idea how JY looked like. JY gave his permission and Hye started to feel JY's face. Time passed by and both grew up...
