Young Sim is a lonesome housewife and mother of two kids. Her husband is a wealthy doctor who pays little attention to her. He is warm and caring to his life long friend, Ga Heun. However, he is cold and distant to his wife. Young Sim is the family slave who cooks and cleans for her in-laws, babysits for her sister-in-law's baby, and is ridiculed daily by her mother-in-law. Young Sim lives as an outcast in the family and is always taken for granted.

Jung Woo has recently been dumped by his long time girlfriend, Ji Hye. Ji Hye marries Young Sim's husband's younger brother. On the day of Ji Hye's wedding, Jung Woo watches sadly as Ji Hye marries another man. As he walks out of the building in tears, he accidently bumps into Young Sim. This is their first encounter of many to come.

Just when things can't get any worse for Jung Woo, he is diagnosed with a brain tumor and he is told that he will eventually die. Jung Woo vows he will never love again. Young Sim and Jung Woo continue to meet as fate keeps drawing them together. As the two develop their friendship, Young Sim finds herself falling in love with Jung Woo. Jung Woo is kind, caring, and nurturing to Young Sim. He can make her laugh and smile when she's feeling down on herself. Young Sim desperatly wants to be loved. Feeling depressed about his own life, Jung Woo finds comfort in Young Sim's company.

One day Jung Woo learns that Ji Hye (his ex girlfriend) is related to Young Sim. Angry that he is dying, Jung Woo plays along with Young Sim and uses her to make his ex girlfriend jealous. Although Young Sim's love is sincere, Jung Woo has ulterior motives initially. Jung Woo continues his deception until one day he realizes that his games has hurt the one who loves him the most, Young Sim.

Young Sim finds happiness loving Jung Woo. He's the first person who has ever held her hand, protect her, speak warmly, sing to her, and kiss her ever so passionately. He's everything that her husband has never been. Naive and soft hearted, Young Sim will risk everything she has to be with Jung Woo, even if it means their love can only last a short while.
